Faces Behind Our Success
The VYCC is proud to partner with AmeriCorps on many projects. This partnership allows VYCC to provide ever increasing numbers of young people with excellent training, quality supervision and intense leadership experiences. AmeriCorps plays a major role in the Conservation and Community Leadership Program and thus has been able to offer the AmeriCorps Education Award to Members and Leaders that successfully complete their term of service. The VYCC has participated in the Vermont Youth Tomorrow AmeriCorps program and has hosted over ten AmeriCorps members in the Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) program. These members have helped expand programs, build the overall capacity of VYCC, and to reach out to more young people in the state of Vermont. Thank you AmeriCorps – you have consistently helped us to get things done!

Feedback for East Monitor Barn
On May 8th the VYCC, Richmond Land Trust, Richmond Area Business Association, Richmond Historical Society and the Richmond Creative Communities held a public forum regarding the VYCC’s acquisition of the East Monitor Barn property. There was a great turnout of over 100 friends and neighbors to hear some of the potential programmatic uses of the property and to contribute their thoughts and ideas. There will be a series of follow-up meetings on Historic Buildings, Community Relations, and Land Stewardship this summer and plenty of opportunities to get involved. If you are interested in the project or hearing more about the future of the property contact Bradley Materick at bmaterick@vycc.org or (802) 434 – 3969 ext. 149.

Crew of the Month – 2008 Wilderness, Roving and Community Crew Leaders
Crew Leader training is underway for the 2008 Field Season! Twenty-six men and women from across the globe have joined the VYCC this year to lead crews as they complete high priority projects throughout the state of Vermont. Currently the Crew Leaders are in the field honing their technical skills as they prepare for the upcoming season. In partnership with the Vermont Mountain Bike Association (VMBA), the Crew Leaders are constructing several large bridges, installing earthen berms, switchbacks, and completing nearly a mile of benching on the Cyclone Trail in Camels Hump State Forest in Fayston, in the heart of the Mad River Valley. Once training is complete, the Crew Leaders will begin to prepare for the arrival of the first session Corps Members on June 14th.
